Verbose Keystore List
Sat 10 November 2012Signing Up Android Maps API needs to provide MD5 fingerprint of the development certificate. The registration page gives the instruction for how to generate the MD5 fingerprint on Mac and Linux. When I followed the provided instruction, keytool generated the SHA1 fingerprint rather than MD5. After trying to figure it out, the issue is coming from my JDK. Keytool only generates SHA1 as default in JDK 1.7 and needs to add additional option -v for enabling verbose all console output. The following command should provide MD5, SHA1 and SHA256 fingerprint.
$ keytool -list -v -keystore ~/.android/debug.keystore
